Fiordlands iconic Charter Boats:-
Derek & Anna Brown are the owners of Fiordland Charters Limited a Queenstown based company operating since 1996, specializing in Dusky and Breaksea Sounds. Derek and Anna ran the charter boat operation and have lived in the area for most of their lives. Derek was the primary skipper having had extensive experience in the Fiordland Area being a commercially qualified Skipper, Divemaster and Commercial Pilot as well as a very competitive yachtie. Anna was the primary chef and is renowned for her impressive range of cooking skills. Derek represented NZ in skiing for many years with both himself and Anna starting and owning Browns Ski Shop prior to starting the Charter business.
Paul and Katherine Mitchell took over the day to day management of Fiordland Charters in 2018 and have been enjoying learning the reins from Derek and Anna. Paul is a commercial skipper and commercial helicopter pilot and has been working in the area on the water and in the air for the last 15 years. Katherine is a passionate foodie, chef and fisher and loves dishing up whatever comes out of the ocean on any given day. Together Paul and Katherine are passionate about hosting our clients in Fiordland and sharing their knowledge of the area.
Greg Hay was the founder of Peregrine Wines and now owns Wet Jacket Wines at Lake Hayes Queenstown. As well as being a highly respected vineyard consultant. Greg is a helicopter pilot and has had extensive sea kayaking and tramping experience through-out Fiordland. Greg knows all the nooks and crannies there are.
Greg & Jane Turner. Greg's highly successful career as a professional golfer gave him the experience to turn to golf course architecture. www.tmgolfdesign.com Millbrook West and Oreti Sands are just two recent projects in the Otago Southland area to check out. Greg still plays on the European Seniors Tour. Jane has been a sailing instructor and cruised the world as a chef on superyacht (as well as cooking for Ayrton Senna).
Greg also thinks he knows a thing or two about catching fish, especially on the fly.
Paul Carrad is a former Wellington boatie and Otago glider pilot. Apart from representing yachting on the New Zealand Olympic Committee and being a Sailing NZ Council member, Paul also raced keel boats out of RPNYC. Paul is a keen skier - skiing mostly at Turoa "The Giant"
Ian Margan and Lisa Marquet
Ian is a surfer, sailor, cyclist and Trustee of the Auckland Zoo. A broad business background includes the establishment of Matua Valley and Shingle Peak wineries, Elliott Yachts and Ozonewatersolutions. His radical ocean racing yacht, Future Shock, established records throughout the Pacific.
Lisa has an extensive marketing background including Marketing Manager of The New Zealand Way and BeesOnline.
Plus there are a few other partners from a broad range of backgrounds.
